Dental Implants
Lynnwood, WA

Older woman smiling after dental implant procedure at ARI Dentistry in Lynnwood, WAAt Aesthetic Restorative & Implant Dentistry Northwest, we believe in offering our patients who have experienced tooth loss all of the very best tooth replacement options. Today, the best tooth replacement option on the market is dental implants because they replace the whole tooth in a permanent way that helps to restore the health of your mouth. Dentures and a dental bridge can become uncomfortable and time-consuming to deal with. With dental implants, we can replace a single missing tooth, many missing teeth, even a full arch of missing teeth!

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are a permanent tooth replacement option that allows us to replace teeth from root to crown. Dental implants are made up of three separate parts, which are the titanium implant post, the implant abutment, and the implant restoration. The implant post is made of titanium because of its unique ability to be accepted by the human body. The implant post is surgically placed into the jawbone and is left to heal through a process known as osseointegration. Osseointegration describes the bone in your jaw healing around the dental implant to create a strong mechanical bond, which allows you to use your dental implants as you would your natural teeth, to eat and speak!

The Dental Implant Placement Procedure

It can take several months from beginning to end for us to finish placing your dental implants and dental implant restorations. The first step is to have you come in for an examination. During this examination we will take some images of your face and mouth to help us determine the health of your mouth and so that we can build a treatment plan for you. Those who have been without their natural teeth for a long time will sometimes need to have a bone graft to bring the bone levels in their jaw to a place where they can support a dental implant. If you need a bone graft, we will schedule one for you.

The next step is the implant post placement. To place the implant post, we will make an incision in your gumline to access the jawbone. We will then prepare the bone to receive the implant post with a special dental drill. The implant post will be placed into the jawbone, and the gums will be sutured around the new implant post. We will usually allow the implant posts several months to heal.

Once the implant posts have healed properly, it will be time to place the implant abutments and the restorations that finish the dental implants. These are made to exacting specifications at our state-of-the-art dental lab. We will make sure that the restorations fit properly and comfortably in your mouth and that will be the end of the placement process.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants don't require special care instructions or adhesives to stay in place. They are permanently attached to the bone in your jaw and do a great job of stimulating your continued oral health.
